Origins in Padua

Promaconte was founded in 1987 by Marco Conte, a third-generation cabinetmaker who trained under master joiners in the Veneto region. The studio name honours his grandfather, who worked the fabbri — the smiths and craftsmen of Padua's medieval quarter.

What began as a one-man workshop producing custom doors and window frames has grown into a team of twelve artisans, each specialising in a distinct aspect of the trade from hand-cut dovetails to spray finishing.

Our Philosophy

We believe furniture should outlast trends. Every design decision — from joint selection to hardware specification — is made with longevity in mind. A well-built wardrobe should function silently for fifty years; a kitchen should age gracefully rather than date quickly.

This philosophy extends to our client relationships. We maintain correspondence with families whose kitchens we fitted in the 1990s, returning periodically for adjustments, refinishing, and the occasional new commission as homes evolve.

The Team

Our workshop brings together bench joiners, CAD designers, and installation specialists under one roof. Senior craftsmen each carry twenty or more years of experience, while apprentices learn traditional techniques alongside contemporary production methods.

Lead designer Elena Rossi translates client briefs into detailed technical drawings, coordinating with structural engineers and interior architects when projects demand integrated solutions.

Awards and Recognition

Promaconte has received commendations from the Associazione Artigiani del Legno for excellence in heritage restoration and contemporary fitted furniture. Our work has been featured in Casa Veneta and Architettura & Legno trade publications.

These accolades reflect the collective effort of our team rather than individual achievement. We share credit with the clients who trust us with their homes and the suppliers who provide exceptional raw materials.

Community Commitment

We partner with local forestry cooperatives and donate offcuts to Padua's community woodworking programme, which teaches traditional skills to young people. Sustainability is not a marketing term for us — it is how we have always worked.

Each year we complete at least one pro-bono restoration project for a historic building or charitable organisation within the Veneto region, preserving craft heritage for future generations.
