Hardwoods
European oak remains our most requested species, valued for its durability, attractive grain, and ability to accept both natural and stained finishes. American black walnut offers rich chocolate tones ideal for contemporary and traditional schemes alike.
Cherry, ash, and sycamore provide lighter alternatives, while exotic species such as teak and wenge are available for clients with specific requirements. All hardwoods are kiln-dried to furniture-grade moisture content.
Veneers and Panels
Figured veneers — burr oak, madrona, and ripple sycamore — add visual drama to panel doors and feature surfaces. We press veneers onto stable MDF and plywood substrates in our workshop, controlling glue application and press pressure.
For painted cabinetry, we use moisture-resistant MDF with primed and sanded surfaces ready for topcoat application.
Hardware
Hinges, drawer runners, and lift systems from Blum, Hettich, and Grass form our standard hardware specification. Brass, bronze, and nickel finishes are available across handle ranges from Izé, Armac Martin, and bespoke turned options from our workshop.
We never compromise on hardware quality. Cheap hinges are the most common cause of cabinet failure, and we refuse to install components we cannot stand behind.
Finishes
Natural oil finishes from Osmo and Hardwax Oil penetrate timber fibres, allowing the wood to breathe while providing water and stain resistance. Spray lacquer in matt, satin, and gloss sheens suits painted and stained surfaces requiring a sealed film build.
All finishes used comply with European VOC emission standards. We provide care instructions specific to your chosen treatment at project handover.
Sustainability Credentials
Our primary timber supplier holds FSC chain-of-custody certification. We maintain batch records linking each project to its material source, available on request for clients pursuing environmental certification for their buildings.
Offcuts larger than 300mm are retained for smaller commissions and community projects, reducing waste sent to disposal.
