New Staircase Construction

We design and build complete staircases in hardwood, combining structural engineering requirements with aesthetic refinement. Closed string, cut string, and cantilevered tread designs are all within our capability.

Each staircase is calculated for rise, going, and headroom compliance with Italian building regulations. Structural connections to existing floors are engineered with steel brackets concealed within the timber assembly.

Balustrade and Handrail

Turned spindles, square newels, glass panel infills, and continuous sculptural handrails can be specified to complement your interior style. We hand-shape handrails in oak, walnut, or mahogany for a comfortable grip profile.

Heritage balustrade replication is a particular strength. We match existing profiles from moulding samples or detailed photographs, ensuring seamless integration with original fabric.

Renovation and Repair

Worn treads, loose spindles, and damaged handrails can often be repaired without full replacement. We assess structural integrity before recommending targeted restoration or complete rebuild.

Squeaking treads are typically resolved by re-wedging and re-gluing joints from beneath, preserving original timber wherever possible.

Project Costs

Balustrade refurbishment projects start from EUR 3,600 for a straight flight of twelve spindles. Complete new hardwood staircases range from EUR 15,000 to EUR 45,000 depending on complexity and timber species.

Quotations include structural design, workshop fabrication, site installation, and finishing. Scaffolding and access equipment for multi-storey installations are itemised separately.

Finishing and Protection

Staircases receive heavy-duty polyurethane or hardwax oil finishes rated for high foot traffic. Non-slip inserts can be added to tread surfaces without compromising visual appeal.

We advise on maintenance intervals based on household traffic levels. Most staircases benefit from recoating every five to seven years.
